Rio+20: CDC Climat endorses the Natural Capital Declaration

39 chief executives of banks, investment funds and insurance firms, among which CDC Climat, pledged yesterday at the Rio+20 business forum to integrate the Earth’s natural capital into loans and investments. Among them: CDC Climat.

They signed the Natural capital declaration, a global statement demonstrating the commitment of the financial sector to work towards integrating natural capital criteria into financial products and services.

Among them was Jean-Pierre Sicard, Deputy CEO at CDC Climat, first French firm with Caisse des Dépôts and la Société Forestière, to endorse this commitment.

“Biodiversity loss is one of the most visible impacts of a changing climate. The two perils are inextricably linked. As a major financial player in the fight against climate change, CDC Climat participates only in projects with high environmental co-benefits.
The NCD is an important new tool to help the financial sector to define its environmental criteria and guide investment towards a green economy.
CDC Climat is proud to endorse it.”,
says Pierre Ducret Chairman of CDC Climat.
