Club ViTeCC – Cities, Local Governments and Climate Change
In partnership with Météo-France and ONERC
Club ViTeCC aims to pool the results of academic and applied research on the economics of climate change by making that research comprehensible to and usable by local authority decision-makers and their service providers.
Club ViTeCC addresses the need for information on the local impacts of climate change and for innovative funding for projects related to combating climate change. Particular attention is paid to the management and funding of urban infrastructure.
Club ViTeCC aims to provide a forum for exchange and non-partisan debate, through combining international expertise on the impact and financial mechanisms of climate change with feedback from its members, who include both companies and local authorities.
Research carried out by Club ViTeCC and presented at meetings is shared and funded by annual subscriptions from companies and local authorities.
Club ViTeCC is structured around three one-day meetings every year.
Each meeting is based on the presentation of a summary report including:
- a study of the local impact of climate change,
- a section on the economic and financial research and tools,
- a follow-up on national and international climate change policies,
- "Club ViTeCC Essentials" in the form of annotated key data and themed factsheets.
Club ViTeCC meetings end with a themed round table involving experts and people with local experience. The following issues have already been addressed: urban micro-climates and heat island effects, vulnerability of energy networks, management of flood risks, buildings’ CO2 performance and adaptability, international climate change negotiations, etc.
The first meeting of 2012 was held on March 13th. It covered:
* The effect of heatwaves
* Public-Private Partnerships in the areas of energy, transportation, real estate
* The first review of Regional Climate Patterns-Air-Energy
