Carbon investment policy

Financing environmental projects

CDC Climat seeks to reconcile the environmental usefulness of its investments with long-term financial returns.

CDC Climat invests only in carbon assets generated by projects with a demonstrated environmental, social and economic interest. It invests within the system regulated by the Kyoto Protocol as well as in the voluntary offset market.

CDC Climat aims to give an impetus to investment in the most highly innovative segments of the carbon market. It seeks to secure emission reduction projects that are especially challenging to bring about and to attract co-investors that would not otherwise spontaneously choose to finance them. CDC Climat puts priority on geographical areas in which few projects have been implemented to date: the Mediterranean area and Africa on the one hand, France and Europe on the other.

CDC Climat is especially interested in new forms of projects and carbon assets, i.e. emission reduction after the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012, sectors such as forests that have not yet been organised and European Union projects.

CDC Climat prefers co-investment with its partners, which makes it possible to participate in large-scale projects.
