Emilie ALBEROLA
Research Unit Manager - European Climate Policy
Emilie’s research work deals mostly with an analysis of the development of the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and its carbon prices. She is in charge of the Club Tendances Carbone, whose membership includes the main French participants in the European CO2 market (industrialists, financial institutions and public authorities). She teaches carbon market economics in the ‘Energy, Finance and Carbon’ Master’s programme at Paris-Dauphine University and the ‘Energy and Finance’ Certificate at the HEC Paris business school.
Emilie has a PhD in Economics from Pantheon-Sorbonne University and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development Management from HEC.

With a graduation from the ESCP business school and of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, Hervé Allègre managed the “Partnership and Investment” activity of the Caisse des Dépôts’ department dedicated to combating climate change for the past three years. As such, he represented Caisse des Dépôts in the carbon funds and the companies in which it invested.
After several years as a consultant, he spent more then eight years as financial director of France’s first “community of local communities” (Grand Lyon), where he introduced numerous innovative tools and financial plans involving local communities (Project Financing, Financial Communications, Management Control).
He joined the Caisse des Dépôts Group in 1999 in its subsidiaries dedicated to services and assumed managerial and external growth responsibilities in the areas of waste and real estate. He went on to become vice-president of Caisse des Dépôts for the Loire region and Deputy Managing Director for the Greater West region.

Valentin BELLASSEN
Research Unit Manager - Carbon Offsets, Agriculture, Forestry
Valentin’s research work is focused on carbon offset projects – developed within the UN or other organisations and aimed at reducing carbon emissions – as well as the forestry and agricultural sectors. Valentin also works for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC ) auditing national greenhouse gas inventories.
Before joining CDC Climat, Valentin worked for an American think-tank on questions of climate change and its links to forests. He was also an international negotiator on forestry issues at the UNFCCC , notably as part of the Papua New Guinea delegation.
Valentin has a PhD in Environmental Sciences, a Master of Engineering in water and forestry (AgroParisTech-ENGREF) and is a graduate of the École normale supérieure in Paris.

Nicolas Berghmans is studying the development of the EU carbon market and the impact of European climate policy on the electricity sector.
He has a Master of Science in ‘Economics of International Relations’ at Sciences Po in Paris, and has worked in rural development in Ecuador.

Cécile manages the Club ViTeCC (Cities, Territories and Climate Change) which brings together more than 20 regional authorities and regional development services companies. Her research focuses on climate change issues for sub-national territories and solutions available to them, in particular financial tools which can be used by cities.
Before joining CDC Climat, Cécile worked at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on adaptation to climate change. She also was a consultant for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) where she worked on sustainable development policy.
Cécile holds a Master’s degree in the economics of sustainable development, energy and environment from AgroParisTech.

Nicolas Chung works in the “Investment in carbon assets in EU and France” team.
Nicolas Chung is chief engineer of Mines, and alumnus of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris and the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications. He was responsible for implementing new digital services in the Caisse des Dépôt’s Department of digital development for local territories.
Previously, he managed digital projects at the Ministry of Education and has been delegated to ICT, education and higher education at the Association of Regions of France.

David CLEMENT has a long experience in Compliance function. From 2004 to 2010, he held Compliance and Legal Advisory positions within CACEIS Group. There, he contributed to the international coordination of the Compliance function and was assigned to implement the compliance and internal control framework of the subsidiary of CACEIS in Munich. Previously, he held a Back Office function within CDC IXIS Group’s subsidiary in Frankfurt David CLEMENT holds a DESS in Management and a master’s degree in Law from Université de Nantes.

A PhD student in the CERNA research laboratory at Paris Dauphine / Mines ParisTech since October 2008, Ian is researching the use of GHG inventories and the urban-scale management of climate change, specifically focusing on the policies available to cities to reduce emissions related to passenger transportation.
Ian has a Master of Public Affairs from Sciences Po, and a Bachelor degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Syracuse (USA).

Mariana DEHEZA

Mariana Deheza’s fields of expertise include project mechanisms, in particular those linked to voluntary offsets and forestry projects. She is also in charge of the Carbon Forest and Wood Club, whose aim is to put in place the practical conditions required to enable the entire forest and wood products sector to benefit from new revenue sources created by using the carbon markets.
Before working for CDC Climat, Mariana worked for two years at the Bolivian Ministry of Development Planning on problems linked to the environment and the forestry industry.
Mariana has a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Catholic University of La Paz in Bolivia, and a Master of Science in Environmental Economics from AgroParisTech-Ecole Polytechnique in Paris.

Trained as an agronomical engineer, Anaïs holds a Master’s degree in the economics of sustainable development, energy and environment from AgroParisTech-Ecole Polytechnique in Paris.

Before joinging CDC Climat, Michèle Drain was Manager of assets and liabilities, cash and funding in the Caisse des Dépôts’ Finance department.
She began her career as a research engineer. She entered Caisse des Dépôts in 1980 as financial research director and went on to manage financial assets. She became a treasury and bond manager (1987-1990) , then a financial asset manager at CDC Asset Management and later in the savings fund department of Caisse des Dépôts (1990-1999).
Michèle Drain has a post-graduate degree in statistics and economics from the Centre des programmes et des etudes économiques, part of the Genes (Group of national schools economics and statistics).

Pierre Ducret started his career as executive manager in local development into the Group Caisse des Dépôts. During 15 years, he contributed to National Planning and regional support, and highly developed initiatives for local governments. He was CEO of the Greater Lyon for 6 years.
Then, back in the Caisse des Dépôts Group, he was first the executive vice-president of the Pension Funds Branch, then the Group’s Chief Administrative Officer, and finally, the Senior Executive Vice-President of the Banking Services.
Dedicated to sustainable issues since the beginning of his career, he has strongly participated in the incubation of carbon finance in Europe. Now, as Chairman and CEO, he intends to bring CDC Climat’s experience to the opportunities and development of climate policies and carbon markets, based on the core values of reliability, innovation and expertise.
Pierre Ducret is member of Caisse des Dépôts Group’s Executive Committee. He is also Vice-Chairman of the exchange BlueNext.
Pierre Ducret is graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Science (IEP de Paris), former student of the French National School of Administration (Ecole Nationale d’Administration) and has a Master’s degree in philosophy.

A Graduate of Paris’ Ecole Centrale, Cyril Gilot started his career in 2005 as part of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Finance Project Team.
In 2008 he became Managing Director of the start-up SHAPE ID, and then joined Mecamidi (an international manufacturer of hydroelectric turbines), in 2009 as an Investment Activity Developer.
Before he joined CDC Climat in 2011, Cyril was a financial director for Endurance Energies (a developer of renewable energies, and a Good Energies’ subsidiary).

Marion Gomy supports CDC Climat’s teams in selecting projects and tools from external suppliers, such as CRM tools and software support functions. She also manages the provision of office equipment and telephone services. She is responsible for office logistics and purchasing.
Before joining CDC Climat, Marion has held since 2000 positions as a functional consultant and project manager within various companies such as SFR, Les Restos du Coeur, France 24 and France Telecom.
Marion has completed a Masters in Environmental Chemistry and a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Skills Complementary from Paris 12 Val de Marne University.

Before joining CDC Climat, Mickaël Hellier was Head of Sales of Finaltis Asset Management a subsidiary of BNP Paribas dedicated to absolute return asset management.
Prior to this, he contributed to the European development of the extra-financial rating agency Vigeo, which became the leader in assessing companies’ rating in terms of Sustainable Development & Social Responsibility and, he was Head of Sales for EuroPerformance, SIX Telekurs funds analysis subsidiary.
He started his career as a Private Banker for Groupe Crédit Mutuel de Bretagne.
Mickaël Hellier graduated from ISTEC (Paris).

Michel Laffitte has over twenty years’ international consultancy experience in mergers and acquisitions and market operations, including with the Lazard bank and the finance and investment bank CDC Ixis Capital Markets.
He began his career as a top-ranking civil servant in the French Ministry of Finance. After joining the French administration in 2005, he contributed notably to several reports and studies on renewable energies and the regulation of raw material derivative markets, particularly carbon.
Michel Laffitte is a former Polytechnique and ENA student, and holds a DEA (post-graduate diploma) in international monetary policy.

Before joining CDC Climat, Yoann Laville was Sales for Natixis Interépargne, a subsidiary of Natixis Group, dedicated to employee savings solutions. He contributed to the sales development of the Socially Responsible Investment’s range of funds from Natixis Asset Management.
Previously, he was Head of the Middle Office dedicated to Partners & Institutions customers, in charge of the booking trades.
He started as a Product Manager Assistant for Schneider Electric before joining banking at the Back Offices Department for Société Générale Bruxelles & Amsterdam.
Yoann Laville is graduated in English, International Trade and Economics (Bordeaux & Paris).

Emmanuel Legrand is investment director for CDC Climat in charge of investments in carbon assets in France and Europe.
He is an engineering graduate of Supélec, national school of engineering in the forefront of Energy and Information Science and holds an MBA from Audencia, school of management. Emmanuel Legrand started his career in 1993 at the Sagem Group where he developed the telecommunications export business. From 1996 to 2003, he worked for telecom operators.
He joined the Caisse des Dépôts in 2003 as an investor expert in charge of supporting the development of ICT projects for local communities. He negotiated strategic partnerships and concluded investments in broadband infrastructure projects.

Benoît is in charge of the research team. He has nearly ten years’ experience in climate-change economics. He has been a member of the United Nations Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee since 2008, and chaired that Committee in 2010. He also lectures on the economics of climate change in various Masters programmes.
Before joining the Caisse des Dépôts group, Benoît worked on greenhouse gas emission verification assignments, particularly in the energy sector, and on advisory assignments for public and private clients regarding the economic tools used to combat climate change.
Benoît is an engineering graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the ENSTA Paris Tech, and has a Master’s degree in Environmental Economics from Paris-X University.

With a post-graduate professional degree (DESS) in management and finance Renaud worked during 4 years at BNP Paribas group in its "online broker" subsidiary as customer risk manager. He worked for 4 years for the Credit Agricole – Credit Lyonnais group as business analyst in a Bâle 2 IT project.
Renaud joined the Caisse des Dépôts Group in 2004 for the SeringasTM carbon registry project, first as a business analyst and later (2007) as a project manager with overall responsibility for project delivery. In 2010, Renaud became project director for the Seringas software and the VCS (Voluntary Carbon Standard) Registry managed by CDC Climat and plays an active part in the development of the REI (Registry Electronic Interface) and the GCP (Global Carbon Portfolio), two solutions created by CDC Climat’s registries and services department. He has a 6 years experience in the Carbon finance and a 10 years experience in IT project management.

Before joining CDC Climat, Maria Scolan was in charge of corporate publications and sustainable development communications for the Caisse des Dépôts Group since 2008. Dr. Jean-Pierre Sicard, managed from the beginning of 2009, the Caisse des Dépôts department that was to become CDC Climat.
After assuming several positions at Caisse des Dépôts, Jean-Pierre Sicard took charge of strategic foresight, between 1998 and 2001. Then, he created Novethic, a research centre for sustainable development and responsible investment for which he is currently president. He was then Sustainable Development Director at Caisse des Dépôts from April 2004 to March 2009.
Before joining Caisse des Dépôts, Jean-Pierre Sicard founded and directed an audiovisual production company. He was also consultant and director at Bipe, a European consulting firm, provider of forward-looking economic analyses.
Jean-Pierre Sicard holds a PHD in economics.
Within CDC Climat, he is Metnext’s vice-chairman (climate information provider), member of the Boards of BlueNext (carbon exchange) and of Fonds Carbone Capital Maroc.

An engineering graduate of ENSEA (National School of Electronics) with a post-graduate professional degree (DESS) in corporate management, François Sit has experience in industry as well as in finance.
With more than eight years of experience in carbon markets and a background of more than 20 years in IT project management and financial IT systems development, François Sit is a registry specialist. He created in 1994, the Caisse des Dépôts corporate trust registry software and connected it to Euroclear in 1997.
In 2003, he was in charge of developing the first French national software for carbon registries known as Seringas. He was also responsible for the DVP connected to the first spot carbon market Powernext in 2005. With his team, he is actively seeking to develop further IT solutions and products suitable for current and future carbon markets.

He has a Master’s in Economics and Business Management from Pantheon-Sorbonne University and a Master’s in International Business from Paris-Dauphine University, where he specialised in the global commodity and energy markets.

Elise Stoffaes works in the Europe and France Investment team.
Before joining CDC Climat, Elise Stoffaes was employed with Hermes Fund Managers Ltd in London and worked in Hermes Equity Ownership Services (EOS) team offering responsible investment and corporate governance advisory service on client’s equity investments. She then worked in the Carbon Finance team of Caisse des Dépôts and in Ernst & Young consulting team responsible for Economic Development and Investment Localisation advisory services in Paris. She also worked for the Operations department of Bombardier Transportation in Berlin.

Isabelle Szendy is responsible for the management control, the finance, the human resources, the social life, the legal issues, and general resources of CDC Climat.
Deputy director of ERAFP (supplementary civil service retirement pension fund) since 2007, Isabelle Szendy holds a post-graduate professional degree (DESS) in management from Paris Dauphine. She began her career as a research engineer in the financial sector.
After working first as a front office project manager at IXIS CIB (Natixis) from 1995 to 1998 and then becoming head of the IT organisation and systems analysis at IXIS AM, she joined the parent company of Caisse des Dépôts in 2000 as Middle Office manager of the pension savings fund finance department. From 2005 to 2007, she headed the Middle Office department and Reserve Fund Reporting for retirement pensions.

Before joining CDC Climat, Abigail Vela was working at the Embassy of Mexico in Paris. Previously, she worked on investment analysis valuations and compliance for the desk of trading commodities at Société Général SGCIB.
She started her career in France in 2006 as an assistant portfolio manager at the Martin Maurel Bank.
Abigail graduated from the University of Mexico (UNAM) with a degree in “Actuarial Science”, also she holds a Masters Degree in “Financial and Statistics” from the University Paris VI – Paris Dauphine.
